This week I wanted to put the character generation examples on hold to take some time to talk about where we are on Whack Pack Adventures.
At the moment we are still on the rough draft stage while at the same time play testing some core concepts to see how they work and make sure the numbers add up. The writing is about a quarter done, the character creation chapter is finished and by this evening the skill section should be done as well. The magic chapter is almost complete, it is finished mechanically but spell building examples and sample spells still need to be written. The rest of the book is outlined and some sections have bits and pieces written but still need a lot of work.
The goal is to have the rough draft done and ready for editing and play testing by the end of July. While that is happening I will also be roughing out a layout and starting to hand out assignments to the art team. I am hoping to have art, edits and revisions in by mid-September and have the second and third rounds of editing finished by the beginning of October.
If we can keep to this schedule and there are no problems with printing expect to see the game released in the first part of November.
Now there is a lot of work to be done and the scenario I have laid out above is definitely a best case situation. If we run into any snags along the way I would rather take the time to fix the problem rather than putting out something that is only half ready.
Now it is time to turn my attention back to the skill section, till next time stay whacky!
